Emeterio "Emmett" Vasquez Mireles, Jr.

Emeterio Vasquez Mireles, Jr., “Emmett”, 50 of Georgetown, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2009. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown, Texas. A celebration of Emmett’s life will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 3:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown, Texas. Interment will follow at Weir Cemetery, Weir, Texas.

Emmett a native Texan was born April 5, 1959 in Taylor, Texas to Emeterio and Margarita Mireles. He is preceded in death by his mother, Margarita Vasquez in 2004; his nephew, Jose Hernandez in 2000; and father-in-law, Walter M. Terrapin 2006. He worked for over 11 years for South Western University in the grounds department. He owned and operated “Jonah’s Tree Service and Landscaping” for the past 12 years. Emmett served on the Weir Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years, serving as Assist Chief for 2 years. Emmett had a love for deer hunting and celebrating life with family and friends. Emmett married Susan Terrapin on August 28, 1981 in Georgetown, Texas. Susan and Emmett were members of First Baptist Church in Weir.

Emmett leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 27 years, Susan Terrapin Mireles; his father, Emeterio Cortez Mireles, Sr.; his two daughters, Heather and Rachael Mireles; his 8 siblings, Maggie Mireles, Helen Sanchez and husband Margarito, Guadalupe Mireles, Irene Gallegos and husband Martin, Jose Mireles, Juan Mireles and wife Maria, Pedro Mireles, and Raymond, Mireles and wife Dora; 4 grandchildren, Anthony Mireles, Angela Valdez, Nathan Mireles, Dominic Mireles and one on the way, Jordyn Rosas; mother-in-law, Brigette I. Terrapin; brothers-in-law, Raymond Terrapin and wife Wanda and Ralf Brueckner and wife Rita; sister-in-law, Sabine Williams; and a host of other loving family members and many friends.

Emmett gave to his family and friends whenever and however he could, in his memory his family chose assist others by donating to the Blood and Tissue Center of Central Texas and to the Lone Star Lions Eye Bank. His giving spirit will continue to live on even in his death.
