ESD #6 is a political subdivision that covers 52 square miles in Central Williamson County, including the City of Weir, the towns of Walburg and Jonah and surrounding areas of Williamson County. Similar to an ISD (Independent School District), the ESD is charged with assessing tax revenue from the property owners within the District. The ESD Board is made up of 5 members of the community served by the ESD. The Board oversees the management and revenue of the ESD. The Weir Volunteer Fire Department is a separate entity from the ESD and operates under contract with the ESD to provide fire protection. The current tax rate for ESD #6 is .10, which means that for every $1000 of property value, $1 is collected.
